Goal 1: Collection Development

Goal 1: Perform focused collection development to meet the information requirements of all academic programs.

 

  • Objective 1: Library liaisons communicate with academic departments. (Pam)
    • Action step 1.1: Liaisons meet with academic departments at least once each semester. (2009/10 Academic year)
      • Evaluation: Liaisons report dates of meetings and brief report of meeting to Library Director.
      • Use of Results: Refine communication with departments based on feedback from meetings.

 

 

  • Objective 2: Further develop workflow for collection development activities. (Liz and Chris)
    • Action step 2.1: Continue working with Baker & Taylor and Emery-Pratt interfaces for materials selection. (2009/10 academic year)
      • Evaluation: Collect data on number of items purchased, delivery time, and invoicing.
      • Evaluation: Regularly meet with librarians to gather feedback on request/ordering workflow.
      • Use of Results: Further refine ordering process and vendor selection.

 

  • Objective 3: Conduct research to better understand the information needs of our patrons and to purchase the best materials for their needs. (Pam)
    • Action step 3.1: Choose method(s) to collect information from students, staff and faculty at the Buffalo Campus about popular materials interests. (Pam and Sam)
      • Evaluation: Representative samples from all stakeholders are provided. More than one method is used to gather information.
    • Action step 3.2: Conduct research and analyze data. (Pam and Sam)
      • Evaluation: Data provides information for popular materials selection.
      • Use of Results: Circulation data is collected and analyzed on all popular materials purchased since FY 2008/09.
