Our values encompass the library, the college, the broader community, and ourselves as individuals.

My suggestion would be to change the focus of the first sentence to state that we will in fact be leaders and partners, not just that we will be recognized as such.
Example:
The Medaille College Libraries will be leaders and partners in fostering teaching and learning experiences in our community. We will embrace opportunities to enhance traditional library services through creativity and innovation in support of the mission of the College.

What will these values inform? Will they inform our strategic decision making or will they inform our day to day decisions, or both?
Helping others – I think everyone in the library uses this value on a daily basis.
Teaching and learning experiences for ourselves and others – Certainly the librarians at the front desk use this value daily, strategically this would encompass training opportunities.
Honesty, respect and integrity – Another daily value.
Exploring opportunities for creativity and curiosity – This seems a more strategic value, informing what projects we should undertake, what resources should be available to encourage this value.
Opportunities to make a positive difference – Does this value mean we should be capitalizing on opportunities to make a difference, or that we should be trying to create those opportunities?
Intellectual and personal freedom – Over the summer we had a patron who may or may not have been visiting pornographic websites on the public access computers. Should our value of personal freedom inform the decision on how to deal with that situation? Do we balance this freedom with respect for other student’s sensibilities?

Chris--Values are enduring beliefs. These values inform our day to day work along with our strategic thinking.
